What is entry Level Driver Training (ELDT)?
ELDT is a mandatory training program for individuals seeking to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) for the first time or upgrade an existing CDL. It includes both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training.
Who is required to take ELDT?
Any individual who is applying for a Class A or B CDL, upgrading an existing CDL, or seeking a hazardous materials (H) endorsement is required to complete ELDT.
What topics are covered in the ELDT program?
The ELDT program covers a variety of topics, including vehicle inspection, basic control, safe operating practices, hours of service, and cargo handling, among others.
How long does it take to complete the ELDT program?
The duration of the ELDT program varies depending on the student's availability and learning pace but typically takes a few months to complete.
Is the ELDT program available online?
Some portions of the ELDT program, such as the theory instruction, may be available online, but the behind-the-wheel training must be completed in person.
Do I need to pass a test to complete the ELDT?
Yes, you must pass both a theory test and a skills test to successfully complete the ELDT and be eligible for your CDL.
What are the prerequisites for enrolling in the ELDT program?
To enroll in the ELDT program, you must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver's license, and meet any other state-specific requirements.
Can I use financial aid or payment plans to cover the cost of ELDT?
Currently Heavy Haulers does not provide payment plans or financing of your training, so we can provide the training at the lowest cost possible.
What happens after I complete the ELDT program?
Upon successful completion of the ELDT program, you will be eligible to take the State CDL skills test. After passing the test, you will be issued a CDL, allowing you to begin your career as a commercial driver.
How often do you run classes?
We offer an introductory classes frequenty. Road and Range Training will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Road and Range Training will be scheduled in 2 hour blocks, Tue, Wed ,Thursday and Friday Evenings and Weekend Days
What do I need to do to sign up?
Fill out our easy application and we wil let you know if you are accepted into our program, upon acceptance we require a $500.00 non refundable deposit to attend the introductory class. If you choose to continue with your tranining, then the balance is due in full and not refundable.
Do you offer Road Testing trips to the State Testingt Agency?

Do you offer a refresher class for CDL -A Licence holders?

I am a Public Safety Employee or Municiple Employee is there a discount?
Yes, we offer discounts for those current employees.

Are there any additional costs beyond the tuition?
Students will need to pay state fees associated with obtaining a learner's permit and testing. Additionally, students must obtain a DOT medical card if they do not already have one.
Do I need a learner’s permit before starting the ELDT program?
Heavy Haulers requires a learner's permit before you can be permitted to drive on public roads. However, we can help you complete your Theory and Pre-Trip instruction before obtaining your permit.
Can I work while attending the ELDT program?
Absolutely! Our program is tailored to fit around the average workday, with most classes and driving sessions scheduled for late afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
What is the refund policy if I decide not to continue?
No refunds shall be issued for any reason. All sales are final. A non refundable deposit of $500 is required to reserve a seat and seats will be scheduled on a first come first serve basis.
